Making Readers or Visitors Comfortable

In order for visitors or readers to stick around your blog and visit everytime, you have to make them comfortable whenever they are around on site. Here are my observations and tips that will make visitors read your post, and visit your site. I got these from the blogs that I visit and read everyday.

Search Box

This will help readers navigate to your blog if they are looking for something specific. This will help them target topics that fit for their needs.

Contact Page

If or while visitors are becoming more interested in your blog, they might contact you for some reasons and purposes like business transactions. So this is very essential and should be visible to readers. If not, visitors might get annoyed and might head to other blogs. It annoys me too when I can’t find contact information from a certain blog.

Easy navigation

Sometimes when I read posts from a blog or I get a little further from the home page, a link back to the home or main page is very useful. There are many means of easy navigation that can be used to blogs like scroll and navigation bars, and menus. You can also avoid complicated browsing options like drop-down menus and like.

The Visibility

Good articles but has small font that readers can’t read it comfortably is like nothing at all, they might find another else and head to others. So make sure that the fonts, lines, and etc. are readable and big enough that everybody can read it comfortably without looking closely or far.

Emphasizing Links

Links inside an article is very useful as they are elements of the web. So make sure they are emphasized like underlining, or making the font color different that will make it noticeable to readers and will tell them which are clickable and not.

Avoid putting too many widgets

Widgets are nice and cool but if they are causing disturbance to readers it is bad already. Moving widgets might attract attention to visitors that are reading and they might get annoyed with it, better put widgets that are useful and not those widgets that will cause them confusions and disturbance.

These are just few of my observations that will make a blog comfortable to visitors and readers. You can also share your thoughts by putting comments and suggestions.

Easy navigation, readability is the most important aspect. Apart from that ad placement is also important. Too many ads can irritate your readers.

While your article nicely emphasized on the layout and other aspects it could also be stated that some people use dark or black backgrounds which make reading an effort.Also the matter should be placed on "international" standards and not just "personalized" to the bloggers preferences.The commenter visits the blog and finds it easy if it is simple to read and follow through from one page to another in the blog.There are factors like these alongwith the above which matter lot in making the reader comfortable (if not totally at ease!)
